Accupressure
Jin Shin Acupressure
This workshop teaches the student a non-needling application of Chinese Medicine which consist of using finger or hand pressure on acupuncture points and channels.
After being introduced to the basic concepts of Chinese Medicine, students will learn to give some of the following acupressure treatments: neck release, TMJ release, shoulder and upper back release, chest/abdominal release and low back release.
Each of these treatments can be completed alone, integrated into your existing massage routine or can be sequenced to comprise a one-hour full body Acupressure massage. Students well learn correct body mechanics as a practitioner and the necessary sensitivity of touch for the client.
What exactly is acupressure?
Acupressure is the process of using your mind (and
body) to direct Qi to facilitate healing in another.
Acupressure points are locations along the surface of the body where Qi collects within or between bones and muscles. By stimulating the points with our fingertips, we bring our mind (intention) to the area and the Qi responds. We will use acupressure to re-establish the normal, balanced flow of Qi by gently dispersing "dams" and inviting Qi into areas of "droughts".
In Jin Shin acupressure we use a simple finger pressure technique to stimulate the flow of energy in the meridians. One hand holds a point at a distance from the local area - a distal point and the other hands holds a point in the local area. By directing our intention to the area, the Mind gives direction to the Qi and (consequentially Blood).
